KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two of the biggest events on the 2025-26 Eagle calendar are being recognized. Baseball’s doubleheader sweep at Oklahoma Wesleyan is the Upset of the Year and Haley Ward’s National runner-up finish is the 2026 Avila Athletics Moment of the Year.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two of the biggest performers on the Eagle campus this year are being recognized for their efforts. Avila women’s wrestling’s Haley Ward and baseball’s Dylan Atherton have been named the 2026 Avila Athletics Female and Male Transfer Athletes of the Year.

ENGLISH AND ATHERTON NAMED TO ALL-KCAC BASEBALL TEAMS

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two of the best at the plate in the conference have earned All-KCAC selections. Avila senior left fielder Tommy English was named All-KCAC Second Team and right fielder Dylan Atherton was named All-KCAC Third Team.

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – One of the biggest days of the 2026 Avila baseball season occurred on Saturday. Battling tough field conditions and delays, the Eagles used a pair of huge late-game rallies to sweep a doubleheader at Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday, winning 8-5 and 5-4 to take a series sweep over the hometown Eagles. It was Avila’s first single-game win against Oklahoma Wesleyan since 2022 and the first series win against OKWU in program history.

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – A game that saw 47 combined hits, 11 total pitchers used, six lead changes and 36 runs scored went Avila baseball’s way on Tuesday, defeating Saint Mary, 19-17. The win gave Avila back-to-back wins against the Spires and a win in the season series.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is proud to announce Avila women’s volleyball’s Sydney Owens and baseball’s Cashen Schranz as a 2026 All-American Athlete Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award recipient. This award recognizes Owens and Schranz’s athletic accomplishments and their dedication to strength and conditioning. Nominated by Avila Assistant Athletic Director/Strength and Conditioning Coach Brian Ciolek, Owens and Schranz’s determination to improve in athletics while maintaining academic prominence is a great model for all student-athletes at Avila University.
