WICHITA, Kan. – Avila baseball was unable to overcome a late-inning barrage of runs on Saturday, falling to Friends, 14-4.
Avila tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth after back-to-back RBI hits from Aaron Mcleod-Smith and JJ Stubblefield.
Friends added four more in the bottom half and another in the fifth to go up 7-2.
RBI from Will Clark and Mcleod-Smith in the sixth and seventh innings brought the score to 7-4 before the Falcons scored seven unanswered in the seventh and eighth innings to take the game and sweep the weekend series.
The top of Avila's order – Tommy English and Isaiah Ramos – went 4-for-7 with two walks and a run scored while Mcleod-Smith led the team with two RBI.
Avila is back in action on Tuesday for a single game versus Evangel at 2 PM.
