FIVE-GAME WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WINNING STREAK SNAPPED AT NO. 20 FRIENDS

WICHITA, Kan. – Avila women's basketball fell to No. 20 Friends on Saturday afternoon, 84-67, snapping the program's five-game winning streak.

The Falcons shot nearly 60 percent from the field in the game, while the Eagles shot a respectable 40.8 percent, but unable to keep up with the Friends offense.

Friends got off to a strong start in the first half, holding a 20-13 and 44-33 lead after the first two quarters.

Avila cut it to single-digits early in the third quarter, but were never able to make it over the hump, ending the program's longest winning streak in five seasons.

Madilyn Melton led Avila with 17 points while Ashlyn Kuhlman added 14 points and four made three-pointers off the bench.

The two rivals team stats were relatively even in the final box score, the Eagles were just unable to overcome Friends' hot shooting. 

Avila will be back in action on Wednesday night traveling to Ottawa at 7:30 PM.
