WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL HONORS SENIOR CLASS IN LOSS TO KWU

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Avila women's volleyball honored its three-member senior class on Saturday at Mabee Fieldhouse – Gracie Hett, Ava Leathers and Sydney Owens. In the final match at Mabee Fieldhouse in 2025, Avila fell to Kansas Wesleyan, 3-0.

The Coyotes took control of the first set, winning 25-10. Avila made it a tight contest in the final two frames.

Avila held a lead late in the second set at 14-13, before KWU ended the set on a 12-5 run to take control.

The third set saw Kansas Wesleyan in control for the majority before Avila fought back. The Eagles held an early lead before the Coyotes went on a run in the middle portion of the frame. Late in the match, Avila brought the score to within six, but Kansas Wesleyan pulled away to take the set and the match.

In their final match on the Mabee Fieldhouse court, Leathers finished with five digs and a kill, while Owens had four kills and eight digs. 

Avila has one game remaining on the 2025 schedule, traveling to Bethany on November 8 at 2 PM.
