HIGH-SCORING OPPOSITION DOOMS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

SALINA, Kan. – Avila women's basketball was unable to keep up with Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Coyotes, 90-67.

Kansas Wesleyan put up at least 20 points in first three quarters and held a 19-point lead at halftime.

Despite 45 percent shooting from the floor and seven made threes, the Eagles could not match the scoring on the other end 

Also causing trouble for the Eagles was the 54 points put up by the Coyote reserves, more than half of the total KWU offensive output.

Madilyn Melton led all scorers with 22 points on the game, her seventh 20-point game of the season. 

Avila is back in action on Wednesday at Evangel. Tipoff from Springfield is slated for 5:30 PM.
