WOMEN’S WRESTLING FINISHES 16TH AT FALCON OPEN
PARK CITY, Kan. – In the first competition with head coach Sara Hilliard at the helm, Avila women's wrestling finished 16th at the Falcon Open on Friday just outside of Wichita.
Avila has competed in the Falcon Open in each year of the tournament's existence as well as each year of the program's existence.
Alexis Hatfield led Avila, scoring six points, thanks to a first-round win over Malarie Dominguez of Wayland Baptist in the 103 class.
Jaclyn Riedinger picked up 5.5 points for the Eagles, in the 138-pound division, in her match versus Zhariyah Whittington of Jarvis Christian. Riedinger finished the competition with a 3-2 record.
Markayla Lottie and Chloe Taylor (2.5 each) were the other Avila wrestlers to notch points for the Eagles.
Avila is back on the mat next Saturday as they travel to Forrest City, Iowa, for the Waldorf University Open. Results for all Avila wrestling can be found at TrackWrestling.com and AvilaAthletics.com.
