Bio
Kyle South begins his first season as Avila's head women's volleyball coach after being hired Dec. 11, 2025.
With a background in volleyball data and statistical analysis, South has 10 years of experience at the NCAA Division I level, including volunteer positions at UMKC and Creighton and an assistant coaching stop at Oral Roberts.
South assisted as the Technical Coordinator at Baylor during the Bears’ 2019 postseason run and at South Carolina, where he helped with the Gamecocks’ statistical collection and film breakdowns while assisting with game preparation. Before his time at South Carolina, South spent three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Oral Roberts and spent three years in a volunteer position at Creighton. With the Bluejays, South helped the program win 52 games and go 35-1 in Big East play, including a 2015 NCAA Sweet 16 appearance.
No stranger to NAIA volleyball, South was a graduate assistant for three years at Missouri Valley College, working with both the women’s and men’s programs. He helped the men’s program set school records for wins in back-to-back campaigns. South also recruited the program’s first-ever NAIA volleyball All-American during his time with the Vikings.
South arrived at a successful two-year stint as the head coach at Tonganoxie High School, where he amassed 39 wins. Additionally, South has spent the last five years as a coach and the Men’s Volleyball Director at Dynasty Volleyball Academy in Kansas City.
South and his wife, Jill, have three children, Camilla, Wren and Melanie.
