WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL ENDS SEASON WITH LOSS AT BETHANY

LINDSBORG, Kan. – Avila women's volleyball fell to Bethany 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in the final game of its 2025 season.

Bethany took the first set with ease, 25-10, before the Eagles took the Swedes to extras in the second set.

Avila held a lead through most of the second set and had set point at 24-22. From there, Bethany would go on a 3-1 run before a kill from Sydney Owens tied the set at 25. The Swedes would end the set on another 3-1 run to take the middle frame, 28-26.

The third set saw Avila keep it close before ultimately falling, 25-18.

Avila had four players in double-figures in various categories in the match: Sophia Giorgio with 25 digs, Megan Davies and Sydney Owens with 10 digs each and Sydney Martin with 11 assists. 

The 2025 season wrapped up with many Eagles achieving career-highs. Giorgio notched 444 digs on the season, bringing her to over 900 in her three-year career. Ava Leathers' 127 digs in her senior season were nearly double her second-highest Avila total. In her senior season, Sydney Owens set career highs in both kills (185) and digs (299). Finally, Maddie Jones set careers highs in both digs (207) and service aces (28).
