NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – Avila women's volleyball faced a tough test on Saturday afternoon, traveling to face Bethel, a team receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll. The Eagles put up a fight in the third set but fell to the Threshers, 3-0.
The home squad took the first two sets easily, 25-8 and 25-9, but Avila played aggressively in the third and wouldn't go away quietly.
The Eagles held an early led and kept the score to within two for the first half of the set before ultimately falling, 25-17.
Avila is back on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Friends to take on the Falcons at 7 PM before returning to Kansas City to host Tabor on October 18.
