WOMEN’S SOCCER'S UNBEATEN STREAK ENDS AT EIGHT, FALLS TO NO. 9 OKWU

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Avila women's soccer's eight-game unbeaten streak came to an end on Wednesday evening at No. 9 Oklahoma Wesleyan, 2-0.

After scoring first in each of their last two games, Avila was unable to continue the trend. OKWU struck first, scoring just before the 20-minute mark for an early 1-0 lead.

Avila had three shots on goal in the first half, including one in the first 30 seconds as well as a Joselyn Clark attempt that hit off the crossbar.

With a goal and an assist in her last two games, Nikkole Wood went on the attack again tonight, with two shots early in the second half to try to even the scoreline. Unfortunately for the Eagles, neither of Wood's shots found the back of the net as Avila remained scoreless.

Oklahoma Wesleyan put the game away for good after an 86th-minute goal from Tania Mocholi.

Avila suffered its first loss since August 30 and dropped to 6-2-2 (3-1-1 KCAC) on the season. The Eagles are back at home on Saturday afternoon as they face York at noon at The Z.
