MCPHERSON, Kan. – Avila women's soccer had an unusual scheduling quick today, with a 10:30 AM kickoff at McPherson to avoid storms in central Kansas. The early-morning kickoff was no trouble for the Eagles as they drew 1-1 with the Bulldogs to move their unbeaten streak to six games in their second KCAC game of the season.
McPherson got on the scoreboard first, scoring just past the 17-minute mark in the first half.
Avila had six first-half corner kicks but were unable to find the back of the net as the Eagles entered halftime trailing 1-0.
Less than two minutes into the second half, freshman Cali Lasater scored her team-leading fourth goal of the young season – assisted by Samantha Mendez – to tie the score at one goal apiece.
Lasater's four goals have come in four of the last five games. Lasater is tied with Addison Yinger in the team lead.
Avila has not lost since the season-opener on August 30 and returns home for their KCAC home opener against Saint Mary on Wednesday at 1 PM at The Z.
