SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Extending their unbeaten streak to five matches, Avila women's soccer opened KCAC play on Wednesday night with a 2-0 win at Evangel.
Despite nine Avila shots in the first half and five from Evangel, the two teams entered halftime with a 0-0 score.
With the match looking as if it were headed for a draw, Addison Yinger found the back of the net with her fourth goal of the season in the 81st minute.
Less than 60 seconds later, Leah Reichert scored to give Avila a 2-0 lead with less than 10 minutes remaining to put a bow on the proceedings.
Goalkeeper Kenan Ebel notched another stellar performance, stopping all five shots she faced for her second shutout of the season
In their five-match unbeaten streak, Avila has outscored its opponents 10-4. Avila has not lost in four or more games for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
Avila will travel to McPherson on Saturday afternoon before returning to The Z on September 25 for their conference home opener versus Saint Mary at 1 PM.
