WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ENDS SEASON WITH LOSS TO TABOR

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A season with highs and lows came to an end for Avila women's basketball on Saturday afternoon in a 57-49 loss to Tabor.

Starting all five of its seniors, the Eagles never led but kept it close for the entire 40 minutes. Madilyn Melton with 20 and Marlie Wright with 14 were Avila's two double-figure scorers off the bench. Melton and Wright helped Avila outscore Tabor off the bench, 42-25.

Senior Eireon Adams tied the Eagles lead with six boards and all five Avila seniors pulled down at least one rebound in the game.

Avila was hindered by cold shooting, only hitting 34 percent from the field for the game and hit just three shots from three-point range in the contest.

A 23-23 tie game midway through the second period was the lone tie of the ball game, with Tabor leading the remainder of the game. Avila got it to within three early in the fourth quarter but were unable to make shots late for a chance to win.

Avila's five-senior starting lineup of Hannah Smith, Anastasia Wright, Cece Eddy, Morgan Wiseman and EJ Adams wrapped up their collegiate careers helping the Eagles to an 8-20 record this season.
