MEN’S WRESTLING GAINS EXPERIENCE AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS

PARK CITY, Kan. – Nearing the end of the regular season, Avila men's wrestling faced two tough tests on Wednesday, with duals against No. 6 Oklahoma City and No. 18 Friends.

Avila battled tough against Oklahoma City, losing 40-6 with an open win from Gavin Howes supplying six Eagle points.

Taking on conference-rival Friends, Howes picked up a win in the 285-pound division with a 4-2 decision over Mencali En.

Earlier in the dual, Avila's first win of the evening came from Daniel Vines in the 141-pound class. Vines pinned Brad-Lee McAlister in 5:43 for six Avila points.

The Eagles competed well against the Falcons, falling 42-9.

Avila has its final road competition of the regular season on Sunday from Marshall, Mo., for the Missouri Valley Open.
