MEN’S WRESTLING HAS IMPRESSIVE SHOWING AT FALCON OPEN

PARK CITY, Kan. – Avila men's wrestling participated in their second competition in as many days to open the season, this time with five impressive showings at the Falcon Open on Saturday.

Caleb Sharpe notched five wins on the day, Jase Motlagh, Jeremiah Voliva and Alex Nunez each picked up three victories, and Luis Rodriguez recorded two.

Caleb Sharpe, who came in fourth place in the 184-pound division, went 5-2. Sharpe had two wins via decision, another pair come via fall and a single major-decision victory.

In the 174-pound division, Motlagh went 3-2 with a fall, decision and sudden victory decision to wrap up his first Avila weekend.

Voliva, the reigning KCAC 184-pound champion, went 3-2 on the day with a pair of wins via decision and a tech fall victory.

Nunez, a freshman from Willard, Mo., like Voliva, also had a pair of victories come via decision and a third from a tech fall.

Luis Rodriguez went 2-2 on Saturday, including a pair of victories via fall.

After a successful opening weekend, the Avila men are right back on the mat next Saturday at the Benedictine Service Salute from Atchison, Kan., on Nov. 8.
