MEN’S WRESTLING COMPETES AT ROGER DENKER OPEN
WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Four Avila men's wrestlers competed at the Roger Denker Open in Warrensburg, Mo., on Sunday with a few notable individual performances.
In the 149-pound open division, freshman Derrick Duryee went 0-2 losing by tech fall in his first match and then by fall in his second.
Cam'Ron Morris, competing in the 174-pound open division finished his day 2-2, earning two byes and then losing by tech fall and fall in his next two matches.
Junior Corey Holmes had a strong showing for the Eagles, finishing 3-2 and picking up a win over Edgar Duarte-Quiroz via fall in 3:25. Holmes lost his two other matches via 9-6 decision and fall.
Jeremiah Sanders had Avila's other positive day on Sunday, going 1-2 in the competition. Sanders won his match against Joe Leavitt of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M by decision, 7-4.
Sanders dropped his other two matches, both by fall.
The Eagles will be back in action on Friday at the Missouri Valley Invitational.
