MEN’S WRESTLING WRAPS UP 2024 FALCON OPEN
PARK CITY, Kan. – Avila men's wrestling had a busy opening week to its 2024-25 season. After facing No. 7 Embry Riddle on Friday night, the Eagles were back in action on Saturday at the 2024 Falcon Open.
Kendric Gordon secured a first-round takedown of Kohlter Mariscal of Graceland in the 174-pound class. Gordon ended the Open picking up 3.0 team points for Avila.
At 184, Corey Holmes notched 2.5 points after he won by fall over Ethan Gregg of Briar Cliff in the consolation round.
Gavin Howes put up Avila's other solid performance, tallying 3.5 points after winning by decision over De`Leon Freeman of Newman in the second consolation round and winning by fall against Solomon Arrington of Friends in the third consolation round.
Avila is back in action on Nov. 9 at the Benedictine Service Salute Tournament. The Eagles first home event is coming up in just over a month as they will host the Eagle Duals at Mabee Fieldhosue on Dec. 14.
