AXEL SCOTT NAMED KCAC MEN’S TENNIS CO-FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After completing one of the best freshman seasons in the conference, Avila’s Axel Scott has been named the KCAC men’s tennis Co-Freshman of the Year and was selected to the All-KCAC Honorable Mention team, the conference announced today.
Scott played a huge role in the men’s tennis program’s team growth in its second season, improving its win total by six from its inaugural season.
"Having such great success while playing #1 as a freshman for a developing collegiate program is a monumental achievement,” said head coach Jon Renberger. “I am proud of everything Axel embodies as a student-athlete, and I am happy the other coaches in the conference recognized his impact as well by selecting him for these well-earned and deserved honors."
Playing in the #1 singles and #1 doubles position all season, Scott etched his names as one of the best tennis players in the KCAC, regardless of age.
Scott is the both the first individual award winner and All-KCAC honoree in the two-year history of Avila men’s and women’s tennis. Scott is also the first Avila student-athlete to win a KCAC Freshman of the Year award since softball’s Abi Beaman won in 2025.
