WINFIELD, Kan. – Avila men's soccer was unable to come back from an early goal from Southwestern and lost to the Moundbuilders on Wednesday night, 1-0.

Southwestern scored in the ninth minute and despite nine first-half shots, Avila could not put the ball in the back of the net and entered halftime trailing by a goal.

The Moundbuilders put up 14 shots in the second half, but goalkeeper Johnnathan Fager saved six shots on the evening to keep the Eagles in the game.

A chippy second half ensued with a five total yellow cards issues between the two teams.

Avila had four players with multiple shots last night but just couldn't get the goal they needed and dropped their fifth-straight match. 

The Eagles are back home on Saturday afternoon against Bethel. Kickoff from The Z is slated for 2:30 PM.
