BOWLING POSTS BEST RESULT IN TIER I EVENT IN SCHOOL HISTORY

WICHITA, Kan. – In the men's and women's bowling season preview, head coach Paul Wolf noted that, for the first time with a full roster in the program's fourth season, "We have a core that can make some noise."

Avila bowling did just that in the opening event of the 2024 season.

The men's team finished 10th, with the women's squad coming in 12th place. The placements were the best finish in a Tier I event in the program's history.

"This is a defining moment for this program," Wolf said. "Four seasons ago, both teams finished in the bottom-five of this event. To be in the top-10 and top-12 says that this is a program that is making strides. The best part is that neither team is even close to reaching its potential."

The 30-team event saw programs from all over the Midwest region.

Both men's and women's programs will compete next weekend at the Jayhawk Challenge on Oct. 26 and 27 in Lawrence, Kan.
