Trey Heinrich-Schwieger is entering his fourth season as an assistant coach for Avila University and his eighth year affiliated with the Eagles' basketball program after finishing a four-year playing career.

Heinrich-Schwieger was a part of Head Coach Tyler Bredehoeft's innagural season at Avila in 2023-24.

In his first season coaching for the Eagles, coach Heinrich-Schwieger was an assistant for the Men's Varsity team under Head Coach Bill Sloan and was the lead assistant for the JV team. He helped assist with the academic success of the student athletes while also being heavily involved in player developement, film breakdown, scouting reports and recruiting. 

Prior to becoming a coach at Avila , Heinrich-Schwieger was a member of the Avila's men's basketball program for four season. He appeared in 111 games for the Eagles (109 starts). Over his four years at Avila, he averaged 6.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. In the 2021-2022 season, he helped the Eagles to the seven-seed seed and their first conference tournament win since the 2014-2015 season. During that season he was named Avila's Male Scholar Athlete of the Year while also being a part of the KCAC Student Leadership Team.

In the summer of 2021, he was a camp instructor for Breakthrough Basketball under the direction of coach Jim Huber. Heinrich-Schwieger is from Spring Hill, Kan., and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Sports Communication from Avila University.
