SECOND 100-POINT GAME SNAPS MEN’S BASKETBALLS BRIEF LOSING STREAK

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A huge offensive team performance and an outstanding individual performance from Gio Mack gave Avila men's basketball a 101-82 win at Mabee Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon, snapping the team's brief three-game losing streak.

It marks the program's second 100-point effort of the season and sixth game with 90 or more points.

Avila came out hot in the first half, hitting 54.5 percent in the first half. The team was led by 21 points from James Ross III on 4-of-6 shooting from deep. Avila would not trail for the final 35 minutes of the game.

The Eagles led by as many as 15 points in the first half and entered halftime with a 55-42 lead.

The second half was more of the same for Avila, stretching its lead to 26 late in regulation.

As a team, Avila shot 52.5 percent from the floor – their eighth game knocking down more than half of its shots – and hit 12 shots from deep.

Gio Mack finished the game with 26 points, 15 rebounds, nine assists and four steals.

All five starters were in double-figures, including 23 from Ross and 20 points from Xavier Kahube
