HISTORIC OFFENSIVE NIGHT GIVES MEN’S BASKETBALL 34-POINT WIN OVER KANSAS CHRISTIAN

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Avila men's basketball put up one of its best offensive performances of the last decade, dominating Kansas Christian on Tuesday night, 115-81.

It was Avila's first 100-point game since November 14, 2015 and their highest-scoring game since November 3, 2015, also scoring 115 against Haskell.

Avila shot 71.9 percent from the floor, by far the highest field goal percentage of the Tyler Bredehoeft era.

The Eagles dominated in nearly every facet of the game, outshooting Kansas Christian by a 30 almost percent, outrebounding the home squad 51-21, dishing out 31 assists compared to 14 from the Falcons, scoring 66 points in the paint while only allowing 22 and stretching its lead to as large as 37 late in the second half.

Avila led for the entirety of the game and entered halftime with a 59-43 lead and followed it up with a dominating 56-38 second half.

James Ross III led all scorers with 26 points, shooting a perfect 11-11 from the floor and 4-4 from three-point range. Reigning KCAC Offensive Player of the Week Gio Mack notched a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double while also dishing out seven assists. Xavier Kahube put up 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting with seven rebounds and Jason Ernest ended his night with 14 points, five boards and five assists.

Off the bench, Reggie Morris scored all 12 of his points from three-point range. While only scoring three points, Logan Bishop grabbed seven rebounds in 19 minutes and BJ Boyd ended his night as a reserve with eight points and eight boards. 

With the blowout victory, Avila moves to 7-2 on the season. Following a brief Thanksgiving break, the Eagles return to Mabee Fieldhouse on Dec. 3 versus Oklahoma Wesleyan at 7:30 PM.
