TRISTEN HOOD NAMED KCAC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Avila punter Tristen Hood has been named the KCAC’s Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced today.

On Saturday at Kansas Wesleyan, the senior punted five times for an average of 46.2 yards – with a career-long of 67 – with three punts landing inside the 20.

Hood’s honor is the first Player of the Week win by an Avila football player since September 2023, when Eagles returner Lorenzo Baptiste took home Special Teams Player of the Week.

“I’m very excited for Tristen and happy that he has been recognized for his performance against Kansas Wesleyan,” said Avila head coach Derrick Alexander. “Tristen is an integral part of our special teams unit and his leg plays a big role in switching the field as we attempt to put our defense in a strong position to start a drive.”

The Dagsboro, Del., native has played in 14 games for the Eagles across two seasons, booting the ball 73 times with just five touchbacks.

Hood and the Eagles are back in action this Saturday for Homecoming at The Z against Saint Mary. Kickoff is slated for 1 PM.
