FIONA WEST AND AXEL SCOTT NAMED AVILA ATHLETICS FRESHMEN ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kicking off the 2026 Avila Athletics End of Season Awards, Fiona West and Axel Scott have been named the Female and Male Freshman Athletes of the Year.

Fiona West, one of the best bowlers in the KCAC in her debut season with the Eagles, earned All-KCAC Second Team honors and nabbed two top-10 finishes as a freshman. West was also named to the Cougar Clash’s All-Tournament Team in December and helped the Avila women qualify for the ITC Sectionals for the second-consecutive season.

Like West, Axel Scott was one of the KCAC’s best tennis players this season. The freshman was named the conference’s co-Freshman of the Year as well as being named to the KCAC’s All-Honorable Mention Team.

Scott was the men’s tennis program’s #1 singles and #1 doubles performer for the duration of the season, won the conference’s first Player of the Week award for the 2025-26 season and became Avila tennis’ first individual award winner in program history.
